That one time …
Finding the Good in Ourselves
Think about your younger self. All they were and did that brought you to today. Honor these memories with gratitude. Write a little love note of appreciation to your younger self. What a beautiful way to connect with your younger self, your past, your heart, your resilience.
Dear Younger Me,
~Antonia
Thank you for digging holes to find clay. Thank you for licking rocks. Thank you for being brave even when scared and sad. Thank you for being rebellious. Thank you for playing it safe at times. Thank you for getting so much education and for getting good grades and defying teachers who put you down and much later for having the confidence to shake your professors hands. Thank you for taking the leap of faith to buy an upright bass before you had ever even touched one. Thank you for being hurt and bouncing back. Thank you for always growing and learning. Thank you for being angry and irritable and fed up. Thank you for loving. Thank you for getting to know your grandparents. Thank you for finding out what you desire and leaning in to it. Thank you for speaking up. Thank you for trying to be cool and then finally breaking that cycle and instead doubling down on being you. Thank you for being vulnerable and for having such a solid foundation in your family and culture and values that you don’t give a fuck what anyone thinks. I love you then and I love me now … And that is fucking revolutionary.
It’s so hard to forget pain, but it’s even harder to remember sweetness. We have no scar to show for happiness. We learn so little from peace.
