Start With The Moon
I love the quote this week but I haven’t shared it before now because I always thought it was a little contradictory. I thought if you are waiting for good things to come to you how is that giving thanks continuously? Then I reflected on the full moon and it all became clear. I always see the full moon as a gift. I just choose to see it that way. It is a reminder that whatever I am experiencing right now, don’t hang on to it because tomorrow will be different. But also, it is a reminder that everything happens in a cycle and I know that things will come around. They always do. Just like the full moon.
But really, it is not just the full moon, I think of the moon in all its phases as a good thing that comes to me. It is a choice to see something that literally is there every single day of my life as a good thing, as something to be grateful for. There are a lot of things like this: my breath, my body, nature, etc. If you see things that are always there as good things then you are on your way to giving thanks continuously.
A Gratitude Ritual Inspired By The Moon
Today, before you write what you are grateful for, start by deciding you will practice gratitude.
Next, go outside.
Touch the earth or a plant or anything that connects you with nature.
As you touch it, take a couple of deep breaths.
Inhale gratitude.
Exhale gratitude.
Now look up at the sky and try to locate the moon.
Regardless of seeing the moon know that it is there.
Say, “Thank you, moon”.
Now you are ready to share other things you are grateful for.
Write it all down.
Do it again tomorrow.
Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously.
