Awash in Pleasure

Don’t you miss feeling good?

You Deserve To Feel Good

For so many of us pleasure is not part of our daily lives. If it happens, great. But we do little to facilitate it, welcome it, create space for it. Then when we want it we expect our bodies to just quickly move from stressed, busy, work mode to pleasure mode. What is this all about? Is pleasure seen as frivolous or unimportant? Is it seen as virtuous to do without pleasure? Actually, my zen calendar today is touting the benefits of cutting off desire. No. That is not for me. I need to reconnect with desire and pleasure. I need to see the sacredness of pleasure. Our bodies have pleasure receptors for a reason. We were designed to feel good. We deserve to feel good. Every one of us in the world deserves to feel good.

I follow a woman on instagram and facebook who does trauma resolution work with women and she just led a week of #mypleasurepractice that was focused on reconnecting with our bodies. While her practices had a different focus the whole project got me thinking about simple sensory pleasures like the cliche stop and smell the roses. I talk so much about noticing as the first step to practicing gratitude. But even that implies that you notice what is already there. But what if we intentionally create pleasurable experiences and environments? Then be mindful and notice all there is to notice. Can you imagine all the gratitude that will emerge?

Let's do this in little and big ways. Let's do this because we are built for pleasure. We deserve it. And we can appreciate it on so many levels.
