Macgyvering with Gratitude

I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving & Receiving!

We Don't Always Have What We Need, or Do We?

I never really thought of Macgyver as being grateful. Actually I haven't thought about Macgyver since I was about 12 years old. But all that changed today when I heard a podcast by the creator of the original Macgyver, Lee Zlotoff. He said that Macgyver can be summed up with a simple question: How do you turn what you have into what you need?

We know that gratitude is a practice of appreciating what we have. So as we practice gratitude we are taking an inventory of all the things we have that we appreciate. These are our resources. Resources that we can draw upon in our times of need. In times when hope and faith are lacking.

Now in these times of fear and uncertainty, we need to act more than ever. And gratitude can help.

Practice gratitude and through your practice:

  • Discover the resources that you already have.
  • Appreciate the resources you have.
  • Discover what is important to you, what you value.
  • Build hope for the future.
  • Take action and make an impact by utilizing your resources.
  • Celebrate this impact by appreciating some more.

And in this way, we can be like Macgyver. We know what we have. We have vision and hope. And we act by turning what we have into what we need to make an impact.

What are you grateful to have and how will you make an impact with it?

FORGOTTEN GRATITUDE: Last week I was also grateful for feeling connected with others who have the same vision of the future as I do … Being surrounded by hope and love … Expressing our fears but also releasing them too.
