Hello. Thank You. You Are Beautiful.

A Way of Being

For a while now I have been intrigued by this concept of Ways of Being. It is the idea of having a consciousness that is aligned with an intention but not being caught up in the actions or strategies that might get you there. For instance you could be of service. You would go about the world with the consciousness and intention of being of service. You might imagine what that service might entail but you are not limited to that. When you are being of service the how will show up for you, often in unexpected ways. You might think you will open doors for people. But then you see your child on her tip toes trying to reach something. In that moment you realize she really wants to reach it herself, so you bend down and give her a boost.

We could be peaceful. We might thing it will be about not arguing with others. But then, as we walk through the world being peace, we are called to pick up litter. We don’t know why this is peace but we know that it is. So we do it.

Gratitude can also be a Way of Being. Instead of focusing in on one or two or ten things we are grateful for in a sea of thousands of possibilities, we can choose to be grateful for everything. Beyond finding the good or even judging anything, we can choose to be grateful. In this way we are grateful with every step for everything and every being we encounter. What a beautiful thing.

What are you grateful to see the beauty in?

LEARNING: Yesterday I wrote that I was grateful for feeling more stable after deep breaths and being gentle with myself. Until I wrote it I didn’t realize it was true. I truly did not realize that I was grateful for it because the whole situation freaked me out so much I was just fully experiencing it. But after I wrote my gratitude then I was able to appreciate it and feel good about myself and my actions. It was a self-love revelation through gratitude. This is why it is important to just do this practice even when we aren’t feeling it. Especially when we aren’t feeling it.

FORGOTTEN GRATITUDE: Last week I was also grateful for stories of women in the 30’s leaving the kids with their husbands and taking a road trip to soak in the hot springs with their lady friends … My sweet sisters and their heart-felt shares … Quality time with my love.
