A Perfect Time to Look Within
Today, the day after the eclipse, the day after the new moon, is a great time to look within and get clarity on what you are wanting to plant in your soul. There is a rich tradition of farming based on the moon phases. According to the Farmer's Almanac, the new moon and first quarter are considered fertile and wet and are ideal for planting. During this time the moon is waxing. As it grows so do the roots of whatever you are growing.
I love the idea of gratitude being the fertile soil that I have been cultivating. This soil is creating the perfect environment for beauty and abundance and hope to grow. And each and every thing I am grateful for can grow in this fertile soil. As I think about cultivating this fertile soil I realize that complaint is a poison that I can either allow into the soil of my soul or I can choose gratitude instead.
This is how I interpret this metaphor. You might instead think about gratitude as what you are planting. Either way, use this time to acknowledge what you want to grow in your life and what it will take to cultivate a healthy crop.
The answers are within you. But it doesn't stop with just deciding what we are planting. Of course we have to plant those seeds. And just like a farmer we have to do the work all the way until the end. We have to show up everyday and tend to what we are growing. We pull weeds, water our plants instead of our weeds, make sure the sunlight reaches our plants and harvest our crop.
Happy new moon, new start and late summer gardening.
What is planted in each person’s soul will sprout.
